The Art Museum

I'm not an egomaniac, really! Creating a museum just seemed the best way to organize my work for you to see what I do. So thanks for coming by.

Quilting is an art form filled with meaning. The history of quilt making is long. Quilts are filled with memories some joyful some sad. There are many talented quilters. I am not one of them. I love selecting the fabrics, the colorway, the theme. When I put a fabric quilt together is becomes a disaster. I've long loved to create collage work. That is what a quilt is in some ways - a collage of fabric saved as scraps or purchased with intent. I've begun saving bits and pieces of my art. Little doodles, swoops, shapes that don't make it into a piece. I also clip and use pieces from my existing work. I pull it all together to create a type of quilt. I started with quilt blocks but have been creating entire quilt tops recently.

All of these works been in competitions where I was at least a finalist. I'm proud of these - even being a finalist is, well, kind of a big deal.

I love the idea, that colors and lines and ideas that I spend time on where appreciated by other people.

Indigo Tempest is one of the most recent finalists in a competition. Click the link to see more.

Creating depictions of space is a favorite for me. Pictures we see of space are incredible. The colors, the textures, the light.

No doubt I barely capture what is really out there, but it is fun.

I paint more abstracts than any other type of artwork. For creating is about movement, rhythm, line, colors, and light. I only see what a piece might represent after I have created it.

Some artists create amazing representational and allegorical work. I'm not one of those people.

Isn't it interesting how varied the creative expression is?

P.S. Holy cow, some of the abstracts I've made turned out ugly. U.G.L.Y. Even painting digitally, too much color can become a muddy mess. Maybe I'll have a hall of ugly artwork!

I've been drawing since I was a little one. There's a black and white picture of me somewhere asleep at the table holding a crayon in my hand.

I do some illustration style works and some simple animations.

Flowers sort of flow out of me. It's the first thing and the most favorite thing that I've created. I've loved IRL gardening. My health keeps me from doing much of presently. Flowers just keep blooming in my art though. Flowers, trees, botanicals of all sorts - the lines, the colors, the shadows, the lights. There is so much to explore in this world. I create some realistic florals and some abstract.

Last but not least, is my fabric surface pattern design collection. Fabric, wow! An incredible canvas for my artwork. So interesting to design, to size, and to test.

The Tumbling Rabbit Family's Traveling Woodland Circus a Webtoon series I'm working on four episodes so far.

I have more Webtoon ideas so stay tuned to hear more.

Also you'll see the thumbnail for another Webtoon. A sweet & swoony YA romance called 600 Walks. Not ready to release yet, but I adore the characters and the story.
